Projects & Real Estate

The projects team is experienced in handling all types of construction disputes including claims for delays, defects and liquidated damages. Our lawyers have been involved in a number of significant construction disputes including:

  • A claim against sub-contractors for defective works in one of the largest earth-filling projects in South East Asia. The project involved the filling in of disused quarries in a specially designed manner to allow construction of a large residential estate. The earth filling works were performed negligently and this led to excessive ground subsidence and significant losses to the developer.

  • A claim by owners of a major shopping centre in Johor for extensive property damage caused by piling works carried out at an adjacent construction site. The piling works had led to excessive ground settlement and caused the floor of the shopping centre to buckle.

  • A claim relating to defective works performed by contractors in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

  • Geowin Construction v MCST No. 1256 – The leading Singapore High Court decision on the role of independent experts in construction disputes.

The real estate practice group regularly acts for clients in property transactions, both residential and commercial. The firm is on the panel of all major banks in Singapore and has advised on a number of high value transactions.
The team regularly handles:

  • Sale and purchase of residential properties
  • Sale and purchase of commercial properties
